To Elizabeth's family,
Oh my!

My sister, Jenny, called me last night because she was looking to update ET's address to send out her Christmas card. I was at the end of a Webelos meeting and was SHOCKED to hear this news.

That must seem weird to you, since this news is now 3 years old, so please let me explain.

ET and I were friends in Bolivia. She was my best friend there during the time we were both in La Paz. My sister, who had been staying with me, went with her to New York to help out with Rach and Aaron and became her friend, as well. My time with ET was compartmentalized to the time we spent in Bolivia. When we did speak by phone, she was always so busy with work and the kids and this wonderful man she had met, whom I am thinking I have read about in this blog.
I always thought she was out there in New York, living and running and doing well...
I know I have some pictures of her to give to you, should you want them. I can scan them and email, if you'd like (or Skype or Yahoo Messenger).

I have an ornament that has gone on my Christmas tree for many years of me, Rachael, and Aaron taken in the backyard in Bolivia in the Calacoto house. ET gave it to me one year for Christmas and it has survived numerous moves over the years.
I cannot express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. I lost my own sister in 2005 and my father in 2006, so while you were going through the journey with ET, Jenny and I were going through something similar with our own sister... and I guess that is the only explanation I have at this time for not having known something so important was going on a world away from what we were going through.
Even through my sadness, I cannot help but smile at the person ET was. She was sincere, friendly, caring, concerned, fun, smiling, and down-to-Earth. We laughed, cried, exercised, and sat in the backyard after a long day and had a glass of wine by the light of a single candle on the table. I have very good memories of ET.
Instead of sending her off with a delicate, sad parting, I will simply say to her what she often said to me, "You go girl!"
